I took a break from politics tonight to knit a hat.<\/p>\n

I really love this yarn. I picked it up at the Rhinebeck Sheep & Wool Festival<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Going to this festival is my birthday present each year. I try to go with a project in mind, but this year I didn’t. I took a look at the vendor list and made a note of vendors I was interested in. And I thought it would be fun to check out the Icelandic breed.<\/p>\n

I also thought it would be fun to see the vicuna. And it was. They are gorgeous.<\/p>\n

But skeins of vicuna were starting at $80. So I went with the Icelandic at Hudson Valley Sheep & Wool Company<\/a>. Icelandic Lopi-Lite, 4 oz for $11. Enough for a hat!<\/p>\n

It reminds me of a sweater my dad brought back from New Zealand. Thick and full of lanolin. It’s going to be so warm.<\/p>\n

I should probably add it to my Ravelry profile.<\/a> I didn’t use a pattern, just measured my head (22 inches) and multiplied by my gauge (4 st\/in.) and threw in a couple of cables.<\/p>\n

Anyway, this feels really luxurious. I may not take it off until spring.<\/p>\n
